Peyton Collum, LPC, RPT

Peyton, as an attachment-based therapist, is honored to journey alongside her clients in a therapeutic relationship as they heal and grow. She strives to create a safe, respectful and trusting environment for her clients. For Peyton, the goal of therapy is to cultivate awareness in clients so they feel comfortable to further explore themselves and empowered to make positive changes in their life.

If you’ve noticed a pattern of “stuck-ness”, or that you’re feeling confused about what you’re experiencing somatically, it may be time to start therapy that focuses on trauma. Trauma can inform how we view ourselves, the world, and others, and sometimes these beliefs manifest as negative cycles.

Maybe you left a toxic job just to end up in another toxic work environment. Maybe you noticed a pattern in your family of origin that you don’t want to recreate in your own life, but feel stuck on how to prevent it from happening. Maybe you’re noticing that you react a lot more than respond. Maybe you’ve experienced some church hurt and are uncertain how to navigate that part of your life again. Or you finally got out of that mentally abusive relationship, just to find yourself back in a new one. It feels like a new situation, but same pattern. The good news is, you don’t have to navigate this alone. And in therapy, Peyton helps clients build tools to help create new patterns that serve them and helps foster the freedom to be themselves again.

Additionally, for parents & caregivers feeling confused by their child’s behavior and aren’t sure how to support them or just need help sifting through all of the parenting “advice” out there, Peyton is passionate about supporting parents and caregivers with patience and non-judgment.

Peyton counsels through the lens of attachment and relationship neuroscience. She blends EMDR, mindfulness-based therapy and interpersonal neurobiology to help clients heal from trauma, distressing life experiences, and learn new ways of being in the world and with others.

To help the brain and the body integrate, Peyton emphasizes working with the individual’s nervous system, focusing on the wisdom it gives us. Peyton works with with attachment wounding, family of origin issues and complex trauma. She also enjoys working with children who have experienced a traumatic event or have hard and/or confusing behaviors.

Peyton is EMDR-Trained, a Registered Play Therapist and has completed a training in TBRI or Trust Based Relational Intervention.

Peyton lives in Dallas, TX. Outside of counseling, she enjoys reading, exploring coffee shops, playing tennis, and being outside.
